  5. Hello folks , wellcome to FILEDISK V1.03!
  6.  
  7. You  are annoyed  about spending  2 KBytes of Clustersize or more for small
  8. files?  Then Filedisk  will be  usefull for you. It creates a 'Disk' with a
  9. Clustersize  of 512  BYTES up to 8 MegaByte. You are able to create as many
  10. Filedisks  as you  want on  your Harddisk. FileDisk is testet from DOS 2.11
  11. up  to DOS  3.20. Programms  like Diskoptimizers don't work on this Drives,
  12. I'm  afraid. (Maybe  there is  one, I didn't find any). Also CHKDSK doesn't
  13. run.  f your last Drive is C, so your first Filedisk will be D, the next E,
  14. aso...  It is  simple to  use and I will not do a bid Documentation here. I
  15. use  FileDisk on  a IBM  XT clone  beyond DOS  3.20.  I'm  running  a  BBS.
  16. (SEAdog/Opus).  It works  fine. You  are able  to do  your    backups  with
  17. FASTBACK(tm).  It will  also write  512Bytes back! Be carefull! Backup your
  18. harddisk  first! Run  Chkdsk. Be  shure, you  have enough Megabytes free on
  19. your  Disk, to  create Filedisks.  Best guess  is formatting  your harddisk
  20. new,  and then  frestore with Fastback. Best guess is using 2 Filedisks a 8
  21. MByte on a 22 Mb harddisk. So, all again in single steps :

  23. run CHKDSK /F
  24. backup your Harddisk (!)
  25. Format your Harddisk
  26. run FILEFORM C       (if your harddisk is C)
  27. copy FILEDISK.SYS to your Root Directory
  28. include in Config.Sys DEVICE=FILEDISK.SYS
  29. reboot your System and restore your files on D (or E, etc..)
  30. DONE!

  32. I  hope I left no urgent information here. There is not any warranty in use
  33. of  this program.  It is  in the  PUBLIC DOMAIN and you may give it to your
  34. friends, BUT DON`T MAKE MONEY WITH IT !!
